Samsung Electro-Mechanics says it had record third-quarter revenue and operating profit, with stronger sales of components used in AI data centres among the drivers.
Why it mattersYonhap reports operating profit rose 165.5% year on year to 691 billion won, while revenue climbed 30.3% to 3.76 trillion won. The company also cited automotive demand. The useful signal is in the components behind the AI build-out: demand for capacitors and package substrates is showing up in a supplier’s results. AI infrastructure has a supply chain, and it is not made entirely of chatbots.
Discuss: Should AI infrastructure suppliers’ earnings count as evidence of lasting AI demand, or only once the spending translates into returns for their customers?
