AMD Watch posted an update
AMD CFO Jean Hu told a Citi technology conference that the company sees a potential market of $2tn to $3tn for its products by 2030, according to Yahoo Finance’s Motley Fool article. The report says Hu had previously put the estimate at about $2tn.
Why it mattersThe growth opportunity is tied in part to AI and data-centre demand. AMD’s second-quarter data-centre revenue rose 107% year on year to $6.7bn, the article says. That market estimate is not a revenue forecast, let alone a promise of sales. Still, it shows how much bigger AMD believes the addressable market could become as AI computing expands.
Discuss: How much weight should investors give a larger market estimate before it turns into actual revenue?
