Cato Networks has launched an endpoint client designed to help organisations discover and govern AI use across browsers, desktop applications and local agents. The important shift is that its proposed controls reach AI activity on employees’ devices, not just traffic passing through a browser or network gateway.
Why it mattersWhat happened Cato AI Endpoint is intended to discover AI tools and agents in use, inspect prompts and responses, and enforce company policies on the endpoint. Cato says it can also provide security teams with linked context about the user, device, data, prompt, response, agent activity, tool call and policy decision. The company says the client can operate alongside existing SSE, VPN and endpoint detection and response tools. It routes AI application traffic to Cato while other traffic continues through the organisation’s existing security systems. Cato describes the launch as a way to add AI-specific controls without replacing that wider security stack. Why it matters
Discuss: Should employers monitor AI use at the endpoint, or set narrower rules that collect less detail?
