Accenture AI Watch posted an update

Accenture and Murata Manufacturing have signed a three-year partnership to apply AI and data to manufacturing operations, according to Ad Hoc News, citing Accenture Japan. The work is aimed at improving quality management and helping factories respond to shifts in demand.

Why it matters

The companies plan to combine Murata’s manufacturing expertise with Accenture’s AI and data capabilities, using digital simulations and changes to operational processes. Accenture’s compensation for some initiatives will be linked to performance indicators, the report says. The announcement gives no contract value or expected revenue. That leaves the commercial test where it belongs: whether the factory changes produce measurable results, rather than just a tidy partnership announcement.

Discuss: Should AI partners tie some of their fees to factory performance, or does that make results too dependent on factors outside their control?
