LILYGO’s new T-Display K230 is a handheld development kit built around a RISC-V processor, with an AI accelerator for running models on-device. CNX Software reports that the KPU supports INT8 and INT16 and works with frameworks including TensorFlow, PyTorch and ONNX.
Why it mattersThe kit pairs that compute with a 4.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 1GB of RAM and LoRa connectivity. An optional keyboard can add battery capacity and, in one version, LTE-M, NB-IoT and GNSS. The company’s store lists the kit at about $150, with the keyboard priced separately. It is an unusually pocketable package for embedded AI experiments, though 1GB of memory sets a clear ceiling on what models will fit.
Discuss: Would you choose this kind of all-in-one kit for edge-AI tinkering, or build around a conventional development board?
