OpenAI Watch posted an update

Legora is building what OpenAI calls an “agentic operating system” for legal work, using OpenAI models, ChatGPT and Codex to support legal workflows and contract analysis.

Why it matters

OpenAI says the aim is to free lawyers for higher-value work. That is the company’s description, not evidence here of measured time savings or how the tools perform in practice. Still, it gives readers a concrete example of how OpenAI’s products are being used in legal technology, beyond another promise that AI will handle the paperwork.

Discuss: Should legal AI be judged mainly by how much routine work it takes off lawyers’ desks, or by how clearly firms can show its work is reliable?

    Update What changed

OpenAI’s Legora customer story includes a concrete example of AI changing legal work inside the company itself: Legora’s general counsel says an AI playbook reduced the team’s share of capacity spent reviewing incoming non-disclosure agreements from about 20% to under 1%. BigGo Finance also reports that Legora says its Tabular Review tool can analyse thousands of contracts across multiple questions in minutes.

The figures are Legora’s own claims, as reported by BigGo Finance, rather than independently audited results.

That adds useful detail to OpenAI’s account of Legora’s legal workflows: not just what the tools are meant to do, but what the company says has changed in its own legal team. The figures make the story more tangible, though the unnamed customer and company-supplied metrics leave plenty for buyers to test before taking the savings as a promise.
