Terrestar Solutions of Canada, the UAE’s Space42 and US-based Viasat have agreed to work together on an open standard for sharing satellite infrastructure and improving mobile connectivity, Bloomberg reports.
Why it mattersIt is a distinct push towards making satellite networks work together, rather than simply adding another name to the list of Starlink alternatives. The practical test will be whether the agreement leads to usable services across providers, not just a tidier standard on paper.
Discuss: Should satellite connectivity be built around shared standards, or will competing networks work better for users?
