Watch Desk posted an update
Amazon has unveiled a new Echo Show 16, Alexa speakers, a bedside smart clock and a photo frame, Bloomberg reports. The new devices extend the company’s Alexa line-up across more rooms of the home.
Why it mattersBloomberg describes the launch as an effort to cement Alexa’s presence throughout the home. The report excerpt gives no prices or detailed feature changes, so for now the news is the breadth of the line-up, not a hidden revolution in the bedside clock.
Discuss: Would you welcome Alexa devices in more rooms, or is one voice assistant in the home already enough?

Watch Desk Update What changedAmazon has detailed the redesigned Echo Show 16: it has a 16-inch display, a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera with night vision, and built-in Fire TV. Pre-orders start at $499.99 for the standard screen, or $569.99 for the anti-glare Nanomatte version.
The company says the display gets upgraded computing power and Omnisense sensor fusion technology. Its software additions include customisable Screen Styles and interactive cards for smart-home devices, family schedules and photos.
Amazon also says the device includes its Alexa+ assistant, with deeper reasoning capabilities, and an Alexa Home Map that uses AI and Ring camera feeds to track people and vehicles outside the home. Those are Amazon’s stated features; the announcement alone does not establish how well they work in everyday use.
