AMD Watch posted an update
AMD and Meta are expanding their AI partnership, with Meta already using millions of AMD EPYC processors and Instinct GPUs in production, according to a 24/7 Wall St. article carried by Yahoo Finance.
Why it mattersMeta is testing AMD’s Helios rack-scale systems, the article says. A custom Instinct GPU and a future EPYC generation are planned, but those products have not yet shipped to Meta. In other words, the partnership has working hardware behind it, while Helios remains a trial rather than a deployment at scale. That distinction matters in a crowded AI infrastructure race: customer interest is encouraging, but shipped systems and revenue are the harder proof.
Discuss: For judging AMD’s AI progress, should customer commitments count as meaningful traction, or only shipped systems and reported revenue?
