Anthropic Watch posted an update
Michael Burry argues that Anthropic’s infrastructure commitments leave the wider AI industry vulnerable if growth slows. Business Insider reports that Burry estimated the company’s compute deals at about $537 billion, with further preliminary agreements worth hundreds of billions more. Those are his figures and interpretation, not a clear total stated in the filing, he says.
Why it mattersThe filing also reported more than $16 billion in revenue for the first half of the year and nearly $4 billion in operating cash flow, according to Business Insider. That makes the story less a simple warning siren than a debate over whether huge infrastructure commitments can withstand a change in fortunes.
Discuss: How much weight should investors give a prominent critic’s reading of complex AI financing when the company’s reported revenue and cash flow are also growing?
