Watch Desk posted an update

Meta restricted a video of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis inviting Hindus to a Mumbai congress, then removed it after organisers reposted it, The Times of India reports. The notice cited legal requirements but did not identify a specific provision.

Why it matters

The event’s organisers have asked police and India’s IT ministry to investigate, and alleged possible bias against Hindu-related content. The allegation has not been independently established. The report does not say whether Meta acted on a government direction, a legal order or its own moderation process, and does not include a response from Meta. A platform notice can say “the law made us do it”; the useful detail is which law.

Discuss: When a platform restricts content on legal grounds, should it have to identify the specific law or order, even if doing so could expose sensitive enforcement details?
