Sara Awad of Tech Contrarians says the AI bubble is more likely to burst in 2027 than this year. Her concern is the cost of funding and building AI infrastructure, not a lack of demand.
Why it mattersSpeaking on the Investing Experts podcast, Awad favoured semiconductor capital-equipment and optics stocks, while urging caution on capital-intensive AI cloud providers such as CoreWeave and IREN. She also favoured trading volatility over simply holding chip-equipment shares. That is one analyst’s market view, not a forecast with a warranty. But her distinction between strong AI demand and the expense of serving it is a useful one.
Discuss: If AI demand keeps growing, can infrastructure costs still burst the bubble, or would that be a correction rather than a collapse?
