WRITER has introduced invisible, machine-readable watermarks for text generated by its Palmyra models. The marks are unique to each customer organisation, giving businesses a way to identify their own role in shaping AI-generated content, rather than relying only on a model provider’s watermark.
Why it mattersWRITER says watermarking will be enabled by default for EU customers, while customers elsewhere can switch it on and adjust its settings. Businesses can vary watermark strength, apply marks to selected content, and embed extra information such as campaign identifiers. The useful twist is that companies can tune the trade-off between detectability and text quality. WRITER says its method subtly steers word choices, so the practical question is whether the marks stay reliably detectable across real-world editing and reuse.
Discuss: Should AI watermarking be set by the model provider, the business using the model, or both?
