Watch Desk posted an update
Samsung is bringing an upgraded AI sleep-apnoea feature to the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Ring in South Korea from November, Android Police reports. Unlike the current tool, which flags general signs, the upgrade is described as categorising readings as mild, occasional or frequent.
Why it mattersSamsung’s stated measure is two sleep sessions of at least five hours each within ten days. The feature has received South Korean regulatory approval, following FDA approval in the US in July, according to the report. Older Galaxy Watch models are also due to get the capability later, but the Watch 4, 5 and 6 are excluded. A wearable can flag signs and grade them, but that is not the same as a clinical diagnosis.
Discuss: Should health features that grade possible sleep disorders be available on more devices, even if some users may mistake a wearable reading for a diagnosis?
