Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark’s shares could be worth about $28.6bn if the company reaches a $2tn valuation at its planned IPO, CTech reports. That is a hypothetical estimate, not a valuation Anthropic has set: the company has filed its registration statement but has not set a price range.
Why it mattersCTech says Clark holds about 242.3 million shares, including options and restricted stock scheduled to vest within 60 days. At Anthropic’s last private share price, the holdings were worth about $14.3bn. Clark is listed as a selling stockholder in the filing. The report also says each of Anthropic’s seven co-founders has pledged to donate 80% of their equity, but the pledges are not legally binding and can be revoked. The timing, amounts and recipients have not been determined. That is a considerable gap between a pledge and a plan with dates attached.
Discuss: Should co-founders’ donation pledges count as meaningful commitments when they can be revoked and have no set timetable?
