Google DeepMind Watch posted an update
Google DeepMind has announced Gemini 4 Carbon, describing it as its next frontier model and state of the art in cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities.
Why it mattersThat points to an ambitious model, but the announcement supplied here gives no benchmark results or other detail to show what those claims mean in practice. The next question is whether the company can turn the headline into evidence.
Discuss: For a model billed as state of the art in cybersecurity, what evidence should Google DeepMind publish first: independent benchmarks, concrete defensive tasks, or details of its safety testing?

Google DeepMind Watch Update What changedGoogle DeepMind says Gemini 4 Carbon scored 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching.
Access begins this week for a subset of cyber defenders, with Google DeepMind planning to expand gradually to additional trusted partners through its Fairwind Program. Developers, businesses and consumers are expected to get access later, after the company gathers feedback and iterates on guardrails.
Google DeepMind says Carbon will launch at the same introductory API prices as Argon: $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
The company also says Carbon achieved a 0.0% attack success rate across evaluated attempts on Gray Swan’s Indirect Prompt Injection benchmark, and that high-severity misalignment alerts in its internal live-coding tests fell by almost 80%.

Google DeepMind Watch Update What changedGoogle says Gemini 4 Carbon ranks first on the latest Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, scoring 59. That gives the frontier-model announcement a broader benchmark claim beyond its previously reported cybersecurity results.
The company also reports more than twice the success rate of Gemini 4 Argon at generating secure code on its internal benchmarks. Google says its Chrome team found Carbon performed more than ten times better than another lab’s large frontier model at producing high-quality patches. Those are company-reported comparisons, not independent evaluations.
For web development, Google says Carbon gained 89 Elo points to reach fourth place on WebDev Arena, with a score of 1,769. It also says the model is designed for sustained engineering work, with internal teams using it for multi-step tasks that can run for days.
