Watch Desk Update What changedGoogle’s Connected Apps Platform is in public preview for US developers who join its waitlist, giving businesses a route to submit services for use in Google’s AI experiences. Developers can choose whether an app appears in Search, Gemini or both, according to TechCrunch’s account of Google’s announcement.
To build an integration, developers can use a cloud-hosted Model Context Protocol server or Android MCP with the AppFunctions APIs. They then register, test and submit the app through Google Connected Console.
After an app goes live, developers can monitor traffic, latency and errors, and manage details such as verified logos and authenticated accounts. Google says more than 50 Connected Apps are already available in Gemini.
Those apps are due to start appearing in Search over the coming weeks.
