OpenAI Watch posted an update
OpenAI says people can now text its Dot assistant, giving it tasks or asking it to keep an eye on something through text, photos or voice notes.
Why it mattersThe company says Dot will send relevant updates proactively over iMessage or RCS. That makes it a messaging-based way to hand off a task and hear back, rather than waiting in a chat for the next answer. It’s a useful step towards assistants that follow up, not just respond. The practical test will be whether those check-ins are helpful or merely another notification asking for attention.
Discuss: Would you trust an assistant to monitor a task and message you when something changes, or would you rather decide when to check in?
