Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic has released Claude Code v2.1.267 with a new maxEffortLevel setting that caps the effort level across providers, including Bedrock, Vertex and Foundry. Users can still choose a lower level.
Why it mattersThe update also adds a switch to render the system prompt afresh on every request, fixes a marketplace path containment bypass on macOS and Linux, and improves recovery from expired AWS or Google Cloud credentials. For Claude Code users, this is a practical maintenance release: more control over expensive reasoning, fewer confusing failures and one security-shaped fix worth taking seriously.
Discuss: Would you use maxEffortLevel to control cost and latency, or leave effort uncapped for important coding tasks?
