Silynxcom is developing a soldier-worn prototype that listens for drones and alerts troops, rather than relying on radio signals to spot them. The Defense Post reports that the system is designed to recognise drones’ acoustic signatures.
Why it mattersThe Israeli communications company announced the AI-powered system on 21 October as part of a move into counter-drone technology, the report says. It remains at the prototype stage, so this is a design under development, not a field-ready detection system. Sound-based detection offers a different route to spotting drones. The test will be whether it can distinguish a threat from the noisy real world quickly and reliably enough to help troops.
Discuss: Should counter-drone teams prioritise acoustic detection, or keep it as one tool alongside radio-based systems?
