DeepSeek Watch posted an update
A Vocal contributor says DeepSeek accounts for 27.1% of text API requests on OpenRouter, ahead of Google and OpenAI on that measure. That is request share, not revenue or overall market share, so it is a useful snapshot of model use rather than a crown for the whole AI industry.
Why it mattersThe contributor also argues that version migration and rivals’ supply problems helped drive the figure. Those explanations are the author’s analysis, not established causes. Developers choosing models are weighing more than benchmark scores: price, speed and reliability matter too.
Discuss: When choosing an API model, would a high request share persuade you to switch, or do price and reliability matter more than popularity?
