AI tools are helping uncover software bugs, and the people responsible for fixing them are feeling the strain. PYMNTS, citing The New York Times, reports that OpenAI researchers found more than 1,300 bugs while using AI to examine open-source software.
Why it mattersThe report also says Google used AI to find and repair 1,072 Chrome bugs in June. Node.js has confirmed and fixed a record 50 vulnerabilities this year, while its chief technology officer says AI agents are helping him manage the workload overnight. Finding flaws faster is useful only if teams can assess and fix them. The numbers point to a growing workload, not proof that AI caused every vulnerability or that all reported bugs pose the same risk.
Discuss: Should AI developers be expected to help maintain the software flaws their tools uncover, or should that responsibility stay with the teams who maintain each project?
