Ripple chief executive Brad Garlinghouse says the company is leaning into regulation and licensing as it seeks to make its US dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, “the most trusted stablecoin”. He also discussed the utility of XRP and Ripple’s recent acquisitions, Bloomberg says.
Why it mattersThat is a glimpse of Ripple’s priorities, not evidence that RLUSD has gained trust or that its licensing strategy has changed the rules of the game. Still, it puts the company’s approach to stablecoins and crypto regulation on the record.
Discuss: Should crypto firms treat regulatory licensing as the foundation of trust, or should stablecoins have to prove themselves through other means?
