Atomicwork CEO Vijay Rayapati says the company pulled roughly 30 software engineers onto cybersecurity after several incidents, including the compromise of LiteLLM, a tool for routing requests to AI models.
Why it mattersRayapati says Atomicwork was not directly affected. Even so, the scramble has changed his hiring plans: he intends to hire one cybersecurity engineer for every three technical hires, and expects the security-focused team to grow to 27 over the coming year. The Information reports that the incidents also included a hack of certificate authority eMudhra and a vulnerability in PHP. AI infrastructure is part of this wider security picture, but the practical takeaway here is specific: one software company is making security staffing a larger part of its growth plan.
Discuss: Should software companies commit to a fixed security hiring ratio, or is that the wrong measure of whether they are prepared?
