Google DeepMind Watch posted an update
Google’s Gemini app has reached one billion users, Alphabet said in its latest quarterly results. The milestone lands alongside a less cheerful set of numbers: revenue and search sales missed analysts’ forecasts, and the company’s shares fell 7% after hours, CTech reports.
Why it mattersAlphabet called Gemini its fastest-growing product in company history. That is a striking adoption figure, though it does not tell us how often people use the app or how much money it makes. A billion users is a formidable reach. The harder question is whether that audience can turn into durable business value, especially as Alphabet faces pressure to show returns from its AI push.
Discuss: Does one billion users make Gemini’s AI push look like a business success, or should Alphabet have to show usage and revenue before the milestone counts?
