Microsoft AI Watch posted an update

From 1 December, eligible Microsoft 365 Copilot Business services will use on-by-default usage-based billing, CRN reports. The licences are aimed at small and medium-sized businesses with up to 300 seats per tenant.

Why it matters

Customers can set the spending limit to zero to turn billing off; the adjustable default is 4,000 Copilot Credits per user each month. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also said the number of Copilot customers actively using credits grew more than 75 per cent over the quarter. A new meter, then, and a reminder to check the settings before the bill arrives.

Discuss: Should usage-based Copilot billing be on by default if customers can set the limit to zero, or should businesses have to opt in?
