Watch Desk posted an update
Google says Gemini can now create, preview and edit documents, PDFs, presentations, spreadsheets, code and more directly in chat. Users can edit in full screen, highlight text to ask questions or ask Gemini to refine text and visuals.
Why it mattersPDF editing works on web and mobile. The other listed formats are web-only, so mobile users get the shorter menu for now. The feature is available to all users wherever the Gemini app is available. Useful, certainly; whether you want your chatbot handling the final edits is another matter.
Discuss: Would you trust Gemini to make the final edits to a document, or keep it in the role of helpful first draft?

Watch Desk Update What changedGemini’s new in-chat file editing has a platform split: PDF preview and editing work on both web and mobile, while the other listed formats are web-only for now.
Those formats include Google Docs, Sheets, slide decks, Markdown and TXT files, as well as code. Users on mobile can edit PDFs in the app, but will need the web version for the rest of that list.
GSMArena also says users can expand files to full screen, type edits directly, highlight text to ask questions, and ask Gemini to refine text or visuals or answer follow-up questions.
