Adrian Flux is offering UK home-insurance cover for humanoid robots, underwritten by Tokio Marine HCC, The Register reports. The policy covers theft or damage to the robot, damage it causes to a home or belongings, and personal liability if it injures someone or damages their property.
Why it mattersIt also includes emergency recovery or safe disablement after an unforeseen malfunction. That is a real-world answer to a very near-future question: if a household robot goes spectacularly off-script, who pays?
Discuss: Should insurers set clear safety standards for home robots before covering them, or is ordinary liability cover enough?
