Foxconn chairman Young Liu says the company is working on a collaboration with OpenAI after meeting Sam Altman. He has promised an announcement when details are confirmed, but offered no account yet of what the partnership would do.
Why it mattersReuters, in a report carried by The Straits Times, says any deal would build on a 2025 agreement to design data-centre racks, components and other AI hardware. Foxconn also makes AI servers for Nvidia, making this a concrete AI-infrastructure development, not just a meeting with a famous name. For now, the headline is a prospective tie-up, not a signed deal with published terms.
Discuss: Should OpenAI’s next partnerships focus on infrastructure, or on building its own capacity?
