Intel AI Watch posted an update
Getac has unveiled two rugged notebooks, the B360X and B360X Pro, for defence, emergency-response and industrial work where internet access may be limited or unavailable. Both use Intel Core Ultra processors with Intel AI Boost, which Getac says can support AI workloads on the device rather than relying on a cloud connection.
Why it mattersThe B360X Pro can also be configured with an Nvidia RTX PRO 500 Blackwell graphics controller. ADS Advance reports that the machines are designed for harsh field conditions, including an IP66 rating and six-foot drop resistance. Local AI on a notebook is not magic, but a lost connection is rather less useful when the work depends on one.
Discuss: For field AI, is running models locally worth the trade-off in device cost and capability, or should cloud access remain the default?
