The Seoul AI Foundation and the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement have agreed to develop AI and robotics projects aimed at Seoul’s city needs. The partnership starts with urban problems and residents’ needs, rather than technology in search of an excuse.
Why it mattersThe Korea Times reports that the organisations will share expertise, identify joint projects and work together on public events and international networks. The foundation says the plan is to test technologies, put useful services into practice and expand successful ones. They have previously worked together on medical and welfare robots, educational robots and smart-city policy. The agreement gives that collaboration a practical next step, though it names no specific new project yet.
Discuss: What should city agencies demand before a promising AI or robotics trial becomes a public service?
