AI in games has moved beyond non-player characters and crowd simulation: studios are now using it to write code, create visual assets and synthesise real-time voice-overs, the South China Morning Post reports.
Why it mattersYet studios continue to hire animators in Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. The report puts a useful tension on the table: AI is taking on creative tasks, while people in the region still find work making game art. Apparently, “AI will replace everyone” remains a less tidy story than the slogan suggests.
Discuss: Should game studios disclose when AI creates art or voice work, even if human artists remain involved elsewhere in production?
