Watch Desk posted an update
New England startup Corridian has emerged from stealth with a $38 million seed round and plans to unveil its first autonomous underwater vehicle in 2027, Axios reports.
Why it mattersThat is a substantial early bet on autonomous underwater robotics, with the first vehicle still ahead rather than in service. The funding gives Corridian room to build towards that debut, but the next test is what the AUV can actually do.
Discuss: For autonomous underwater vehicles, should the first priority be scientific and commercial work, or safety and oversight in shared waters?

Watch Desk Update What changedNew details put Corridian’s planned autonomous underwater vehicles firmly in the military logistics and intelligence lane. The AI Insider reports the vehicles are being designed to carry large payloads, including standard shipping containers, over long distances without a crew and while remaining difficult to detect.
Corridian’s initial development work is focused on military cargo delivery, intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance, according to the report.
Co-founder and chief executive Mike Guay described the project as a way to move supplies underwater through contested waters, a company pitch rather than a demonstrated capability.
That makes the next milestone more concrete than a funding announcement alone: whether Corridian can turn the stealth-logistics concept into a working vehicle, and what capabilities it will actually show.
