Watch Desk posted an update

Cipher Digital shares rose 9% as AI data-centre stocks rebounded, with IREN up 8%, according to TIKR. The bounce came despite no new company announcement from Cipher, and three firms cut their price targets.

Why it matters

Cipher’s third-quarter revenue fell 63% year on year and missed estimates, TIKR says. The company now expects rent from its major Barber Lake contract to begin between now and early 2027, later than its previous fourth-quarter guidance. That makes this a market bounce, not proof that the underlying business has turned a corner.

Discuss: For AI infrastructure landlords, are investors reacting more to the promise of future leases or to the difficulty of delivering them on time?

    Update What changed

24/7 Wall St. reports Cipher Digital shares up 11% to $7.63 in morning trading on 3 November, with IREN up 10% and TeraWulf up 9%. Riot Platforms rose 12%. The gains follow steep recent declines: the outlet says Cipher was down 51% over the past month and IREN 42%.

Cipher’s analyst targets have shifted again. 24/7 Wall St. says J.P.

The outlet also gives new figures from Cipher’s third-quarter results: revenue of $26.7 million against a $37.5 million consensus estimate, and $5.9 million in first high-performance-computing lease revenue at its Black Pearl campus. It says Cipher has $16.6 billion in contracted revenue across three campuses and expects first capacity at Barber Lake in the fourth quarter of 2026. That leaves investors watching delivery and rent, not just another green number on the screen.

    Update What changed

J.P. Morgan cut its Cipher Digital price target to $18 from $22 on 3 November, while keeping its Overweight rating, according to a report carried by Yahoo Finance. That is a new analyst view, not a change to the company’s business or a guarantee about where the shares will go.

Wells Fargo also lowered its target, to $15 from $25, the report says. The two revisions add to the target cuts already covered in this story, even as Cipher shares rose during the day’s trading.

The distinction matters: a share-price bounce and analysts’ estimates are different signals. Investors following the AI data-centre operator still have to weigh those market views against delivery of its planned capacity and the leases behind its contracted revenue.

    Update What changed

Applied Digital shares rose 9% on 3 November, while IREN also gained 9% and Nebius rose 7%, according to 24/7 Wall St. The report says the move recouped some of Applied Digital’s losses from the previous day, though the stock remained down 30% over the past month.

The article adds a concrete measure of the financing challenge behind the wider AI data-centre market’s jitters: chief executive Wes Cummins said Applied Digital had financed about 600 megawatts of its 1.4-gigawatt plan, and still needed to finance about 800 megawatts over the next 12 months. He said the company’s tenants for the remaining capacity were rated AA or better.

Chief financial officer Saidal Mohmand described a funding sequence of preferred equity from Macquarie Asset Management followed by project-level debt, the report says.
