Three in four managers have used public AI to prepare for conversations about work, according to The Predictive Index’s AI and People Leadership Report, cited by Raconteur. But only 57% of managers said they felt fully prepared for those conversations, while 74% of executives said their managers were very confident handling them.
Why it mattersThe figures point to a gap between leadership’s confidence and managers’ own sense of readiness. Generic AI can help organise what to say, but it may know nothing about the employee on the receiving end. Useful rehearsal, then, not a substitute for judgement, context or a decent conversation with the person involved.
Discuss: Should employers let managers use public AI to prepare for sensitive staff conversations, or is the risk of exposing workplace details too high?
