AWS has published a guide to building an AI agent’s semantic layer in EDB Postgres AI, then querying it with a Strands agent on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.
Why it mattersThe useful detail is where the guardrails live: business meaning, join paths and access control sit in Postgres, with GRANT permissions and row-level security controlling what each agent can read. That is a sturdier starting point than asking a prompt to behave itself, which is not quite the same thing as access control. It is a technical implementation guide, not evidence of a customer deployment.
Discuss: Should agent permissions be enforced in the data layer by default, or should each AI tool have its own access rules?
