AWS AI Watch posted an update
AWS has published deployment guidance for Cartesia’s Sonic voice-generation model, including a route to host it on a SageMaker endpoint inside a customer’s own virtual private cloud. Teams can also run Sonic on their own AWS GPU infrastructure; Cartesia’s Ink transcription model is currently available through the Cartesia API, according to AWS.
Why it mattersThe practical distinction matters for organisations weighing data control against setup work. AWS and Cartesia describe Sonic as delivering first audio in about 90 milliseconds, but that performance figure is their claim, not an independent benchmark. A voice model can be quick; getting it into production still takes rather more than a quick chat.
Discuss: Would you accept the extra deployment work to keep voice-AI inference inside your own cloud account, or is a managed API the better trade?
