Gimlet Labs has raised $300 million at a valuation of about $3 billion, with Andreessen Horowitz leading the round, according to The Information as quoted by Techmeme. The company reportedly told investors OpenAI might spend more than $100 million a year on its services, although OpenAI says it is not currently a paying customer.
Why it mattersThat makes this a bet on future AI infrastructure demand, not proof of a signed OpenAI deal. The useful question is what Gimlet Labs actually sells, and whether the promised demand turns into revenue.
Discuss: What evidence would convince you that Gimlet Labs has a durable AI business rather than a very expensive customer forecast?
