AI security and governance is the top choice for organisations’ next cybersecurity spend, according to DNSFilter’s new report. Yet the same report points to a gap between investment and oversight: 46.1% of respondents said an employee had connected an unapproved AI tool to a work environment, and 20.1% said such a connection had caused a security incident.
Why it mattersHelp Net Security reports that 40.3% of respondents would put their next incremental security dollar into AI security and governance, ahead of cloud security at 25.5%. DNSFilter also found that 54% worry their organisation has significant AI costs it cannot track. Those are figures from a DNSFilter report, not a universal measure of every organisation. Still, the tension is useful: buying more governance tools is one thing; knowing which AI tools staff are using is another.
Discuss: Should organisations block unapproved AI tools by default, or focus on making approved tools safer and easier to use?
