Anthropic Watch posted an update
Anthropic plans to add text watermarking to four Claude models from 16 November: Opus 4.6, Opus 4.5, Sonnet 4.5 and Haiku 4.5, The Decoder reports, citing an email to API customers. The rollout on Amazon Bedrock may take a few extra days.
Why it mattersThere’s a practical catch for developers: the watermark applies only when temperature, topp and topk stay at their default settings. The Decoder says changing any one of those settings is enough to avoid it. That makes the watermark a default-setting measure, not an unbreakable marker. Anthropic has not given a reason for Opus 4.6’s delayed rollout.
Discuss: Should AI watermarks remain tied to default sampling settings, or should providers make them harder for developers to bypass?
