Amihan Global Strategies is investing $1 million in an academy to train Filipino engineers to help businesses put AI to work, the Daily Tribune reports. The company aims to build a pool of 1,000 to 2,000 forward deployed engineers, specialists who integrate AI systems into business operations.
Why it mattersThe programme currently has about 50 trained and certified engineers, including 22 prompt engineers, and Amihan aims to raise capacity to 100 by the end of the year. It plans to work with universities and a government science institute as it expands training. That is a sizeable ambition, not a workforce already delivered: the company’s figures put today’s cohort well short of its longer-term target.
Discuss: Can training programmes like this help the Philippines move into higher-value AI work, or will demand for those roles be the real test?
