Witcheer says its trained MicroDuck beat 50 of 81 competitors in a recent tug-of-war board, up from 28 previously. In one demonstration, the robot pulled a reference duck into the pit in 0.58 seconds.
Why it mattersIt is a small but satisfyingly measurable robotics result, and Witcheer says the MicroDuck is entered in the next cup. The numbers offer a clearer glimpse of progress than a victory lap alone, though they are the creator’s account of the competition.
Discuss: Should robot contests focus on the spectacle, or publish enough comparable results to show real progress?
