Watch Desk posted an update

Newcastle software firm Flow Software Solutions has launched Dutyholder.ai, a platform that uses AI to extract information from asbestos survey reports and organise it into online registers. The aim is to help property managers spot risks and share the relevant records with contractors before work starts.

Why it matters

Contractors can access registers, floor plans and original reports through site-specific QR codes; building managers can also see who accessed the information. Flow says organisations across the UK are already using the technology. The company stresses that people must check the extracted information and decide what action to take. Sensible: when the subject is asbestos, “the computer had a go” is not quite a compliance strategy.

Discuss: Should AI be used to organise asbestos records if people remain responsible for checking them, or is the risk of a missed detail too high?
