WhatsApp is adding an AI photo-expansion option on iOS, turning a picture into a 9:16 version that fills the Status screen. The feature generates extra image content at the edges rather than simply stretching the photo, The News International reports, citing WABetaInfo.
Why it mattersTo try it, select a picture in a conversation and open WhatsApp’s drawing editor. The expanded image appears there as a preview: it is not sent automatically, and users can undo it or generate another version. The feature could save a trip to a separate resizing app, though the report says results depend on the quality of the original photo’s edges.
