AWS AI Watch posted an update
AWS says Amazon Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow now supports cost allocation tags. Tags applied to an environment also propagate to its workers, schedulers and web servers, so teams can track the spend in Cost Explorer and Cost and Usage Reports.
Why it mattersTo use the feature, apply tags through the MWAA console, CLI or API, then activate the tag key in AWS Billing and Cost Management. That gives teams a way to assign Airflow costs to the project or cost centre that owns the environment. Cloud bills are rarely improved by mystery.
Discuss: Should cloud providers make cost allocation tags work this way by default, or should teams have to opt in to avoid cluttering their billing data?
