AWS AI Watch posted an update
AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store can now validate values against 13 built-in data types when parameters are created or updated. That lets teams reject malformed entries such as invalid IP addresses, account IDs or JSON before applications read them, without writing their own validation logic.
Why it mattersThe new types include region, account ID, boolean, integer, hostname, email and IPv4 or IPv6 address. URL, JSON and JSONC validation require advanced parameters; the other types are available for standard and advanced parameters. AWS says some types also validate each item in a StringList. Teams can combine a type with an AllowedPattern for extra constraints, and change the type of an existing text parameter. A tidy guardrail for configuration that can otherwise fail in rather less tidy ways.
Discuss: Should cloud platforms enforce more input checks by default, or should that control stay with the teams managing each parameter?
