vLLM has announced System Duo, a router that pairs fast decision models for tasks such as triage and verification with deeper reasoning models for more involved requests.

The project says the system is open source. The practical idea is to use a lighter tool for the quick calls and reserve more involved reasoning for cases that need it, rather than sending every request through the same kind of model.
