ASMPT reported record third-quarter bookings of $1.1 billion, up 137.9% year on year, as demand tied to AI infrastructure lifted orders across its semiconductor packaging and electronics assembly businesses. The figures point to a growing appetite for the kit behind AI servers, advanced chips and faster optical links, not just the chips themselves.
Why it mattersWhat happened ASMPT’s revenue for the quarter ended 30 September reached $669.2 million, up 48.7% year on year, according to Circuits Assembly’s report on the results. Its SMT Solutions business recorded a third consecutive quarter of record bookings, up 122.1% year on year. The SEMI Solutions business’s bookings rose 156.3%.
Discuss: Are equipment orders a reliable sign of lasting AI infrastructure demand, or a measure of a boom that still has to prove itself?
