Microsoft AI Watch posted an update
AI agents’ website activity is weighted more towards checkout than human activity, according to Microsoft Clarity’s analysis of more than 5.2 million sessions across 230,511 projects. Checkout made up 25.21% of agent actions, compared with 14.65% of human actions.
Why it mattersThe analysis covers sessions from 13 August to 9 September 2026. Human activity was led by outbound clicks, which accounted for 26.99% of actions; for agents, outbound clicks made up 14.28%. Forms were closer, at 19.85% of agent actions and 18.56% of human actions. That is a useful hint for businesses designing websites for shopping agents: a bot’s journey may look less like browsing and more like getting something done. The figures describe action shares, not how often agents successfully complete purchases.
Discuss: Should businesses redesign websites around AI agents’ apparent focus on checkout, or wait for stronger evidence that those agents convert into real customers?
