Rakovina Therapeutics says its kt-5000AI programme has advanced to lead optimisation for brain-penetrant ATR inhibitors designed for PTEN-deficient tumours. The company says the compounds show potent, selective ATR inhibition and properties associated with brain penetration.
Why it mattersThe candidates were developed with Variational AI using its Enki generative AI platform. Rakovina says the programme reached this stage in about two years; studies of exposure in the central nervous system are still under way. The work is preclinical, not evidence of an effective treatment. The company plans to present data at the Society for Neuro-Oncology meeting in Philadelphia on 13 November.
Discuss: Which matters more at this stage: the speed of AI-assisted discovery, or evidence that these candidates can reach tumours and work in the lab?
